How-To Guide

Installing Support Poles

Support poles are used in closet installations and when installing a stack of 3 or more shelves. Like support brackets, support poles are required for every three feet of shelving used. When assembling support poles, the holes should be closer to the top of each section than the bottom. Attach pole clips with #8 x 1/2" screws, connect the two sections with a square pole connector and cap each end of the assembled pole. Your shelves will snap into the pole clips (see diagrams below).

An easy way to determine your shelf heights is to use the assembled support pole. Place the assembled pole against your closet wall and mark the height of each screw. Then take a level and lightly draw a level line horizontally at each mark. The line closest to the ceiling will be the top shelf (or top double hang shelf). The next line down is your long hang shelf (around 70"). The top hole in the lower section of the support pole is at the correct height for the lower double hang shelf. The other marks can be used for positioning shelf stacks or towers.
